200TB solid state drives could arrive this year based on Nimbus data

Ever thought of an SSD that gives you a whopping 200 TB of space? Imagine having all this free space for your game storage and not having to worry about the large amount of game updates. This is not far from reality. We are likely to see 200TB solid state drives this year.

Nimbus Data is the name behind this dream and is already working to make it a reality. The name is a giant in the industry and has long been a supplier of scalable and high performance flash memory solutions for data centers. The company has hinted towards introducing a 200TB massive SSD. This doesn’t seem like such a far-fetched idea. Nimbus Data is already the name behind the 100TB ExaDrive DC100. It would be a challenge to double this capacity, but the company may have a few tricks up its sleeve.

Nimbus Data CEO Thomas Isakovich told TechRadar, “We are working on a successor to the 100TB SSD that will deliver even greater capacity, performance and energy efficiency than the groundbreaking 100TB, and we expect to ship this next-generation SSD in 2022.”

While Isakovich didn’t specifically mention the 200TB size, there isn’t much of a reason for Nimbus Data to work on anything smaller than 200TB (at least double the size of their 100TB SSD).
