Apex Legends bug scares all Legends using a Sentinel

Apex Legends users picking up Sentinel sniper rifles have noticed a rather terrifying bug related to Vantage’s pet bat, Echo.

Vantage joined the Apex Legends roster at the start of Season 14, bringing with him several marksman skills for players who prefer to operate at a distance.

The new Legends also came with a sidekick, a little bat that benefits Vantage but can cause quite a bit of trouble for everyone else.

Some of the issues mentioned stem from glitches that give the newer hero an unfair advantage on the battlefield. Now another strange bug causes Echo to wreak havoc without Vantage reaping the benefits.

Echo glitch scares Apex Legends players into picking up Sentinels

In some cases, Vantage takes a Sentinel sniper rifle off the ground, resulting in an animation where Echo jumps on the barrel. It’s a cute gesture that accentuates their bond even more.

Not all players find the action cute, though. While playing as Wraith, Reddit user ElderShrek grabbed a Sentinel and tried to carry on with their business. However, Echo jumped on the gun and kept the player still for a while.

Sharing a gameplay clip of the moment online, ElderShrek said the unexpected animation gave them a bit of a scare.

Several other Apex veterans were quick to point out that Echo’s appearance in the above video is indeed a malfunction.

The Echo-centric Sentinel pickup should only work for Apex Legends users playing as Vantage, according to sus0753 and just_Ollie.

Presumably, the issue will eventually get a fix, though it appears Respawn Entertainment hasn’t addressed the issue yet.

As such, even non-Vantage players should keep an eye out for the Echo pickup animation when picking up a Sentinel. This is especially true for those who view the bat’s unexpected appearance as a kind of jumpscare.
