Apex Legends fans want the “least chosen” sniper to get a charging buff similar to the Rampart to increase its usefulness.

Apex Legends is expected to get some pretty big updates to kick off 2023, with the new Spellbound Collection Event introducing new cosmetics and a new heirloom for Seer.

With Season 16 kicking off sometime in February 2023, players are eager to see what changes developer Respawn Entertainment has made to the roster of Legends and weapon range.

Now some fans are calling for the Sentinel to get a Rampage-esque buff in Season 16 and many other members of the community seem to agree.

Apex Legends players request Sentinel buff recharged

The discussion started with a post on the Apex Legends subreddit from user Lenny_72_72, who asked the community if they thought the charged Sentinel “should be able to destroy a door just like the loaded Rampage.”

They explained that they thought it made sense since both weapons use items to charge up and increase their power. For those who may not know, the Rampage’s unique “Revved Up” mechanic allows players to use a thermite grenade to increase the rate of fire for a short period of time and to break doors in two shots.

The Sentinel Sniper Rifle has a similar “Amped” mechanic that allows players to use a shield cell to increase the rifle’s damage by 25% for 120 seconds. Unfortunately, the Sentinel doesn’t have the added benefit of breaking down doors while Amped.

Many fans thought the change would be welcome, as it’s not too intrusive and would give the Sentinel a bit more usability in combat. “Yeah why not, I think it’s already the least chosen sniper by the community,” said one fan.

Another player commented that the buff already seemed balanced due to the Sentinel’s low rate of fire. “The shot speed means the person behind the door can move.”

However, many were quick to note that it would be a welcome addition as long as the change was limited to just breaking down doors and not blasting through them. Of course, it remains to be seen if these changes will make it to season 16, but the community seems to agree that it would be a welcome change.
