The Prowler SMG gets a small damage boost with the Apex Legends Spellbound Collection Event, but players are convinced that the weapon will turn into a “monster”.

When it comes to weapons in Apex Legends, the R-301, R99, and Flatline seem to be the most popular options for most players.

They all deal lethal damage and being fully automatic make them a bit more forgiving if you miss a few shots.

An often overlooked weapon is the Prowler, an SMG that fires in salvos and melts enemy health bars, but requires pinpoint accuracy.

Well, to encourage players to use it more, Respawn has decided to improve its damage in the Spellbound Collection Event, and fans of the Prowler are convinced that it’s going to be a “monster” after the update.

Prowler buff comes in Apex Legends Spellbound update

The Prowler gets a buff with the Spellbound Collection Event arriving January 10th. The SMGs damage is increased from 14 to 15.

While this may seem small at a glance, the Prowler shoots in bursts of five bullets, so each time the trigger is pulled, it now deals 75 damage instead of 70.

As demonstrated by Apex YouTuber Bobz, this means anyone using red EVO armor can now be taken down with three volleys to the body.

This is important as it makes the Prowler more viable in the late game and rewards anyone willing to fully master their recoil pattern.

In the comments, many Prowler fans are convinced that this will make the SMG a “monster” and that the weapon needed no improvement.

According to them, the weapon was already “super underrated” and this change will only make it “even more ridiculous”.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Prowler becomes more prominent in the ALGS after this buff, or if it remains a fairly underused weapon.
