Apple Derby road accident an ‘Accident’ says driver

Bradley Rein, who drove his vehicle into Apple Derby Street on Monday, said the entire event was an “accident.”

Street accident

Rein crashed his Toyota 4Runner into the glass facade of the Apple Store in Massachusetts, killing one and injuring more than 20 people. The SUV broke through the glass at high speed and stopped when it crashed into a wall. The 52-year-old said the incident was “not an attack” but “a regrettable accident”.

Rein is currently facing charges of reckless motor vehicle homicide, with his attorney saying it was an ‘unfortunate accident’. Bail was asked for $20,000, but the court decided to increase it to $100,000. The driver said the cause of the acceleration was that he pressed the gas instead of the brake and was unable to rectify his mistake in time.

He also said the car had no mechanical defects and that he had no medical problems.
