Kamisato Ayaka, the second-in-command of the Yashiro Commission, is a master of cryo in Genshin Impact. With large flowers that burst to inflict massive damage, she gracefully slices up the battlefield. This is her best build, with the best artifacts and weapons to grind for.
Ayaka is a character with swords like no other in Genshin Impact. You’d hope a five-star gacha character would be unique enough, but between her alternate sprint and her rock-solid AOE skills, she mostly is.
Given how quickly she can carve out a battlefield and freeze enemies, she’s especially useful to have as both a main and sub-DPS. Combine that with the best weapons and artifacts in the game, and you’ve got a scary menace on your side.
If you’ve been lucky enough to roll her, or you’re preparing for her version 2.6 iteration, we’ve got Genshin Impact’s best Ayaka build to take the Kamisato Clan princess to the next level with the best artifacts and weapons .
Ayaka Skills in Genshin Impact
- Normal Attack: Ayaka performs up to five quick attacks and shoots through her opponent on the last one.
- Charged Attack: Ayaka uses up stamina to unleash a flurry of sword ki and deal burst damage.
- Invading Attack: Ayaka dives to the ground from the air, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AOE damage on impact.
Ayaka, like most sword users in Genshin Impact, benefits from a general attack combo that uses both normal and charged attacks. Her Charged Attack is lightning fast and deals a lot of damage, but consumes a lot of stamina.
We recommend using something like an N2C combo (two Normals in a Charged Attack) to strike a nice balance, and canceling the sprint between each combo will also keep your weapon infused with Cryo.
Elemental Skill: Kamisato Art Hyouka
Ayaka’s main ability is quite simple, she summons a circle of ice around her and knocks enemies over.
It deals a ton of Cryo damage and is great – paired with Hydro – for freezing multiple enemies at once after emerging from her sprint (more on that later).
Elemental Burst: Kamisato Art Soumetsu
Ayaka’s ultimate unleashes a massive cone of cryo energy. It cuts through enemies caught in its path, before exploding at the end to deal a massive burst of damage. This is best combined with elemental reactions such as Melt (Pyro) and Freeze (Hydro).
The trick with this ability is making sure you hit as many enemies as possible, so use the crowd control you need to bundle them up – an Anemo support is especially useful here.
Alternative sprint: Kamisato Art Senho
While not necessarily a skill, Ayaka’s alternate sprint is a core part of her equipment. Instead of running like an ordinary adventurer, Ayaka veils behind a cloud of frozen fog, moving at high speeds over land and water.
When she stops sprinting, she reappears and applies Cryo to nearby enemies. She also infuses her blade with Cryo, inflicting elemental bonus damage for a few seconds with her attacks.
Do you have multiple copies of Ayaka? Then you have some nice Constellation buffs to activate.
- Level 1 † Snowy Sakura: When Kamisato Ayaka’s Normal or Charged Attacks hand out Cryo DMG to opponents, it has a 50% chance of lowering Kamisato Art Hyouka’s CD by 0.3s. This effect can occur once every 0.1 s.
- Level 2 † Blizzard Blade Seki no to: When casting Kamisato Art Soumetsu, you unleash 2 smaller additional Souken Gates, each sharing 20% of the original storm’s DMG.
- Level 3 † Frostbloom Kamifubuki: Increases Kamisato Art Soumetsu’s level by 3. The maximum upgrade level is 15.
- Level 4 † ebb and flow: Opponents damaged by Kamisato Art Soumetsu’s Souken Gates will see their DEF reduced by 30% for 6s.
- Level 5 † Blossom Cloud Irutsuki: Increases Kamisato Art Hyouka’s level by 3. The maximum upgrade level is 15.
- Level 6 † Dance of Suigetsu: Kamisato Ayaka gets Usurahi Butou every 10s. Increase her Charge Attack DMG by 298%. This buff is cleared 0.5 seconds after Ayaka’s Charge ATK hits an opponent, then the timer for this ability is restarted.
Best Ayaka Artifacts in Genshin Impact
There is a very good artifact for Ayaka in Genshin Impact: Blizzard Strayer. While the 2 piece combo that increases her Cryo damage is good, the 4 piece set that increases her CRIT speed takes her DPS to the next level.
If you’re really struggling, you can choose to use something like a 4-part Noblesse Oblige as that’s a bit more accessible, but 2-part Shimenawa’s Reminiscence and Gladiator’s Finale is also more than enough.
It can be a little hard to grind, but anything that increases CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, raw Attack, and even Energy Recharge (you want at least 100% if possible) are all good for Ayaka. Those are the sub-stats you’ll want to look for on her artifacts as well, so keep that in mind when you’re figuring it out!
|Artifact||Set up bonuses|
|2-piece set: Cryo DMG Bonus +15%
4-piece set: When a character attacks an opponent hit by Cryo, their CRIT percentage is increased by 20%. If the opponent is Frozen, the CRIT Rate is increased by another 20%.
|2-piece set: Elemental Burst DMG +20%
4-piece set: Using an Elemental Burst increases the ATK of all party members by 20% for 12s. This effect cannot stack.
The Memory of Shimenawa
|2-piece set: ATK +18%
4-piece set: When casting an elemental ability, if the character has 15 or more energy, he loses 15 energy and the DMG for normal/charged/plunge attack is increased by 50% for 10 seconds. This effect will not reactivate during that time.
Best Ayaka Weapons in Genshin Impact
Since Ayaka can easily perform Elemental attacks thanks to her passive sprint, you’ll want to take advantage of that with certain weapons. If you can find a Mistsplitter Reforged to get the Elemental Damage bonus, it will treat you well in the long run.
There are other options. Primordial Jade Cutter is a solid Sword option for everyone, while Amenoma Kageuchi is her best free-to-play option and helps solve some of her Energy Recharge issues. However, any weapon that gives ATK% as a stat is a boon.
Below are Ayaka’s best Genshin Impact weapons.
Ayaka talent level up and Ascension materials
It’s not just weapons and artifacts you need to worry about to get the most out of your Ayaka in Genshin Impact—you need to invest in her personally. That means she needs to take her talents to the next level and push her to Ascension Level 6.
Ayaka’s materials are usually found all over Inazuma. You must fight Nobushi to farm Handguards, run around the Grand Narukami Shrine for Sakura Blooms and take over the Thundering Valley domain for her Elegance drops.
If you’re investing in her talents, make sure you max out her Elemental Burst first – it’s her primary DPS tool in both a main and sub DPS build. Then you can upgrade her Normal Attack and Elemental Skill as you see fit.
Check out below the exact amount of Talent Level-Up and Ascension materials you’ll need to get the most out of Ayaka.

Ayaka trailer in Genshin Impact
Ayaka’s gameplay trailer appeared before its release in Genshin Impact patch 2.0, showing the friendly “princess” of the Kamisato clan.
While she looks graceful walking the streets of Inazuma, she’s a deadly force on the battlefield, and Ayaka’s gameplay trailer shows just how powerful her cryo abilities are—especially with her unique passive sprint.
Best Ayaka Team Comp
If you want to use Ayaka as the main DPS in Genshin Impact, you need to focus on freezing enemies with Cryo and Hydro’s reaction. Xingqiu was once the best option for this and provided great support without having to spend too much time on the battlefield.
However, now it is Ayaka .’s brother Kamisato Ayato that fills that void. His Burst covers a huge area, making it easy to freeze every time, and his ability can slice through enemies while they’re in Ayaka’s burst (unless you want Ayaka to get the most out of the passive 4-piece Blizzard Strayer).
Diana and kaeya are good additions to get the Cryo Resonance bonus and reduce her reliance on Elemental Mastery. An Anemo character like Ventic† kazuhaor sucrose finishes the team nicely—they usually help group enemies together for her Elemental Burst.
However, if you choose to perform a more supportive Ayaka comp, you can perform a Hydro-focused carry like mona or childe† Reverse Melt Compositions That Spin Bennett and diluc are also strong. It just depends on the units you have and your preferred playstyle.
Ayaka is a very versatile Genshin Impact tote and one worth pulling for if you missed her flag the first time.
