Body temperature sensor may arrive on Apple Watch Series 8

Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo says the long-awaited body temperature detection feature may be on the upcoming Apple Watch Series 8.

Kuo outlines on social media how Apple canceled the feature on the Apple Watch Series 7 because the algorithm for the technology didn’t work. The analyst said it did not qualify for the EVT, or Engineering Validation Testing, which is a prelude to let it go to production.

In the same post, Kuo believes the upcoming Apple Watch Series 8 will have a body temperature feature if the Cupertino-based company can fix the algorithm before the product goes into mass production and meets the brand’s lofty standards. He says that while it sounds easy in theory, it’s quite difficult because accurate measurement relies on a few external elements.

It seems that other companies like Samsung are also facing the challenge, with the Galaxy Watch 5 having an absent temperature sensing option.
