Hideo Kojima’s Long-Awaited Overdose Could Be Revealed At GamesCom 2022

Hideo Kojima’s next project Overdose could finally be officially unveiled at GamesCom 2022 as the creator of Death Stranding teases the first trailer.

It’s been three years since Kojima Productions released Death Stranding, after years of hype and speculation. Hideo Kojima was billed as a “beach” type game and tried to reshape the modern gaming experience as he saw fit.

Now it looks like the first trailer for the game rumored to be called “Overdose” will be released soon.

After revealing a partnership with Microsoft at the Xbox showcase in June that would leverage “Microsoft’s advanced cloud technology,” the project would be known as “Overdose” by leaker Tom Henderson.

Hideo Kojima is known for editing the trailers for his projects himself, including during the Death Stranding marketing campaign.

The creator of Metal Gear tweeted on August 13 that he was “done editing for now” alongside photos from his Adobe Premiere Pro timeline.

While the content of the timeline was unclear, it is possible that the results of the edit will be revealed at GamesCom 2022. It will take place between August 24-28 and speculatively it would make sense if Kojima presented the project with many eyes on the project . .

The build-up to this potential reveal has been weeks in the making, as Kojima previously teased on Aug. 5 that he was “editing” at Kojima Productions headquarters.

Footage for the game is said to have featured Death Stranding star Margaret Qualley, before causing a shock with the game’s supposed title on-screen. At the Xbox Games Showcase in June, Kojima explained that the upcoming game will use “Microsoft’s advanced cloud technology” to deliver a “never-before-seen concept.”

For years, many players have longed for Kojima’s canceled Silent Hills project to be revived, but hopes for that game to come to light have been crushed by the leak of an unnamed game currently in development.

After redefining the stealth genre and revamping open world titles with a “beach” style game, “Overdose” is gearing up to become Kojima’s most ambitious project yet.
