The developers behind League of Legends have revealed some changes to ranked queues that could alleviate the issues of dodging.

One of the most common complaints from League of Legends players regarding ranked queues is the prevalence of dodging or leaving a game lobby right before the match starts.

Dodging is especially an issue at high levels of the game, where the player population is much lower, and therefore it can take much longer to get into a game.

Riot Games has been working hard this season to combat dodge, but they have now announced some new measures to combat dodge.

League of Legends Announces Anonymous Champion Squad and Other Changes

To prevent players from seeking out their allies in the pre-game lobby and choosing to dodge when a player doesn’t play their lead role or has a winning streak, Riot announced that it’s “probably [b]e hides all Summoner names in Champion Select for ranked solo/duo.

This would combat players using third party sites like OP.GG to get information about their teammates. In fact, Riot continued that “[w]Guess the best version of League isn’t one where you play metagames based on the players in your lobby, weigh up who wins or loses or plays another champion, and dodge or pressure others to dodge when your setup isn’t perfect condition.”

Players seem divided on this decision, with some praising the change as removing the incentive to dodge, while others saying having information about their teammates is valuable, especially if they’re one-tricks.

League of Legends will try to discourage players from dodging ranked games.

In addition to the anonymous lobbies, League of Legends can make more quality-of-life changes in ranked queues, including the ability to trade your position in the pick order and offer recommended rune settings.

With these changes, as well as the other ranked changes, it seems that League of Legends is striving to make the ranked experience better for everyone.
