Modern Warfare 2 developers Infinity Ward have revealed incoming changes to the beta’s user interface (UI) as well as the decomposing lobby mechanic that has proved particularly unpopular with players.

The Modern Warfare 2 beta is underway and players from all platforms can now drop by and experience the 2022 installment of the legendary FPS franchise.

While not a completed title, the beta will give players an opportunity to provide feedback ahead of the full game’s release on October 28.

As such, players took their criticism to the developers, and on September 23, Infinity Ward confirmed multiple changes to the beta based on what the player base has said.

Infinity Ward Reveals UI Changes, Dissolves Lobby & Action Against Cheaters

They announced the upcoming changes in a series of tweets, with the first pledge action against cheaters and hackers.

Fans were stunned when, just days into a pre-launch Beta, it became clear that some players have already found ways to cheat.

Infinity Ward said: “Tomorrow we start live action against cheaters and hackers in beta competitions.”

That wasn’t all, though, as the developers promise improvements to the user interface, which has been criticized by players as overly complex and cluttered.

Finally, they promised adjustments to lobbies dissolution – a system where players are automatically removed from old lobbies and placed in new ones when matches end.

It’s a feature of newer CoDs, but it’s not popular with players who like the chance to take on players they’ve just beaten or lost.

They said, ‘We’ve heard a lot from you about dismantling lobbies. We’re working on a few tweaks to make lobbies more likely to stick together, and to improve the user interface when that happens.”

Many responded positively to the developers’ words, excited about the changes that would be made and would already improve the game.

Others, however, called for more changes in line with players’ demands, such as the much-requested minimap tweaks to bring it in line with traditional CoDs.
