Some of you may be surprised to know that crypto mining is one of the most popular tests for validating graphics memory overclocking. TweakTown performed the memory overclocking test for two RTX 3090 Ti cards, including the ASUS ROG STRIX LC and the MSI SUPRIM X models. Both models have a 21 Gbps memory out of the box. Let’s keep in mind that this is out of the box and the memory can go much higher than this. The crypto mining test is used to verify the potential performance improvements of memory overclocking.
The memory limit for most cards is 1.5 GHz, but it’s possible that someone has already been able to cross this barrier of memory specifications. As for the four custom models completed by TechPowerUP, none of them could go further.
However, TweakTown tested a sample that went above 1538 MHz, which means an effective memory speed of 24.6 Gbps with a total bandwidth of 1181 GB/s. this goes even further than the forthcoming RTX 4090 graphics card. What we can infer from this is that the card has the ability to be used for a long period of time at 24 Gbps OC during the crypto mining sessions
On the other hand, the MSI SUPRIM X card has a memory of 24 Gbps and can reach 130-132 MH/s in Ethereum mining. This is nearly 25 percent higher than the stock RTX 3090 Ti, but it shouldn’t be thrown away that the RTX 3090 Ti has a lot of undervoltage potential and crypto mining doesn’t necessarily need to set power limits at the highest possible level.
