New Mac users will account for 50% of Q2 2022 revenue

Luca Maestri, Apple’s CFO, announced that the install base for the Mac has increased, with half of Mac buyers being new.

Despite supply chain constraints, Apple posted strong Mac sales, with delays in MacBook Pro models. However, the Cupertino-based company set a quarterly record for its Apple Silicon Mac division in the second quarter this year, with revenue of $10.4 billion, compared to $9.1 billion a year ago.

The details were disclosed during the company’s second fiscal quarter 2022 earnings call. Maestri said half of them were new users and the Mac environment.

The Mac range received a major upgrade when Apple decided to move from Intel chips to in-house manufacturing. Recently, the company unveiled the Mac Studio with M1 Ultra and M1 Max options, with the Ultra currently crowned as the most powerful yet. The silicon chip has twice the processing power of the M1 Max.
