Moore’s Law is Dead published a single image of an unannounced RTX 4070-class GPU. The design of the fan blades is similar to the RTX 4090/4080 series, and it seems to have a super-large diameter that extends into the frame, just like the more expensive series. Unlike the AD102/AD103 GPUs, this card appears significantly slimmer and has only two slots.
NVIDIA revealed that only the Founders Edition RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 16GB would be available, with the RTX 4080 12GB being an exclusive SKU from a board partner. Surprisingly, both the RTX 4080 12GB and the RTX 4070 probably have the same GPU, Ada AD104.
The design, which could include a V-shaped PCB, would differ from the Ampere RTX 3070 Ti and RTX 3070 GPUs, which had a simple rectangular board design that was eventually adopted by several board partners.
Intriguingly, we’re seeing this leak now because, according to the most recent speculation, the release of the RTX 4070 has been delayed to early Q1 2023. However, NVIDIA has updated the specs and timeline for its RTX GPUs several times, so it’s wouldn’t surprise anyone if a downsized AD104 GPU appeared at the end of Q4.
