Overwatch 2 developers Blizzard have given fans their first real hint as to what the upcoming Junkenstein PvE mode will be before the start of their Halloween event, Junkenstein’s Revenge: Wrath of the Bride.
In honor of Halloween, Overwatch is hosting another special event over the holidays. And while this may not be the first Halloween event for the Overwatch series, Junkenstein’s Revenge: Wrath of the Bride marks the first major event since Overwatch 2 went live in early October 2022.
While the Halloween special brings new skins and cosmetics, Junkenstein’s Revenge’s biggest asset is the new PvE mode that debuts with it. As a way to make the game mode even more exciting, Blizzard has posted a new blog post on the Overwatch website.
Junkenstein’s Revenge will serve as a sequel to the original Junkenstein event
Written from the perspective of Mr. van Adlersbrunn, the post provides some context and background to the story of Junkenstein’s Revenge. The beginning of the message reads:
“Today I note with great relief that the wounds that Doctor Junkenstein left in the town of Adlersbrunn are finally starting to heal. Our people know peace again, and again laughter and light fill the streets. The news of our prosperity has spread far and wide and travelers from all walks of life have come to enjoy it. The chapter of misfortune, it seems, has finally come to an end.”
The letter then refers to Junkenstein’s return in light of the one-year anniversary of his death, with the Lord adding, “I have to ask one of the guards to look at the strange noises coming from the old quarters of the castle. I pray the rats haven’t made another nest!”
Additionally, Blizzard president Mike Ybarra confirmed on Twitter that it will be an all-new game mode, serving as a sequel to the original Junkenstein’s Revenge.
Exact details of the new Overwatch 2 Junkenstein PvE mode are still unknown, but this letter first is a major tease about what players can expect from the upcoming Halloween event.
Junkenstein’s Revenge: Wrath of the Bride starts on October 25, 2022 and continues until Nov 8, 2022.
