The League of Legends Worlds 2022 event pass has come under fire from players for offering fewer rewards than previous iterations. Riot blames it on an “honest mistake”, blaming players with extra experience at the end of the ride.
The in-game League of Legends Worlds event is the biggest of the year, and that of 2022 was no exception. With three skinlines associated with the mega promotion, it was also an opportunity for Riot to test out their new fitting system.
With a more traditional battle pass-like feel—missions that give you Pass experience rather than rewards like tokens outright—progress is much easier to visualize. However, players noticed something: Riot offered less with this pass than ever before.
By completing the entire pass, players would get about 200 less tokens compared to what they got in 2020 and 2021 playing a similar number of games. This could be the difference between achieving those Prestige skins or not.
Riot originally stated that the pass “should be identical” in terms of tokens per hour played. A miscalculation and an “honest mistake” cause the developers at Worlds 2022 to apologize to players for their mistake.
“The team just finished this issue and we have come to the conclusion that we have indeed made a mistake,” developer ‘Sakaar’ told players on October 19. one, you would lose about 205 tokens.
“This is because we folded five weekly missions worth of tokens (with 200 tokens each) into the reward track instead of six weekly missions.
“It was an honest mistake navigating the new challenges that came with our first New Pass experience and the launch on Worlds.”
The League of Legends Worlds 2022 event pass has been criticized by players for offering fewer rewards than previous editions.
However, Riot is going to make it up to players by adding bonus XP to the final batch of missions in LoL patch 12.21 with the release of the Empyrean skin line, including the Prestige K’Sante cosmetics made in collaboration with Lil Nas X.
There is an additional 4400 Pass XP to be won, equivalent to 220 tokens for those who purchased the Worlds 2022 Event Pass.
This new battle pass system is here to stay, but Riot will make sure things like this don’t happen again: “We appreciate the attention to detail, and we’ll double-check all upcoming events to make sure this doesn’t happen again.” . happen again.”
