Riot promises League of Legends compensation after Clash breaks into Shadow Isles Cup

The Shadow Isles Cup for League of Legends’ Clash game mode was marred by bugs as some players were unable to join the action or even receive their rewards. With many furious over a public statement, Riot is promising refunds to participants.

League of Legends’ Clash game mode is loved by players because it provides a legitimate competitive experience for everyone, even if it’s not quite like Worlds.

It offers a level of competition that most casual players can’t experience otherwise. As they have done before, many summoners invested time, energy and in-game currency to participate in the recent Shadow Isles Cup.

Unfortunately, the recent Clash event was full of bugs, resulting in longer queues, no rewards, and glitches across the board.

Some players were unable to join a team because the game said they were already on a team. Others received no rewards after finishing their parentheses. This annoyed many players who were chasing the higher level banners and rewards on the last day of the Cup.

Riot is aware of the frustrations, with developer Jeremy ‘Brightmoon’ Lee promising some compensation to players: “We are looking at addressing the root cause and will issue Clash refunds to those affected.”

Brightmoon’s Twitter post states that the developers are only looking at issuing refunds and that they won’t be playing the last two days of the Shadow Isles Cup on another weekend so players can push for their final rewards.

A refund in this particular case would likely just come in the form of Blue Essence or Riot Points compensation, as that’s the price players paid to get involved.

Aside from the rewards issues, players complained of being queued for up to an hour – probably because of the sign-up issues others were facing.

The issues surrounding the recent Shadow Isles Cup are still under investigation. The next Clash event in League of Legends, the Zaun Cup, is expected to take place on August 6 and 7.
