RTX 3070 Ti GPU heist in Russia leads to arrests

With Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, both AMD and NVIDIA announced that they would source all their products from Russia. This makes it clear that all of their products still in the country are a hot ticket item. When the supply of a product falls, prices inevitably rise. This change of events caused employees of a Russian company called “Wildberries” to steal 20 GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics cards from the warehouse in which they were stored. With GPU prices skyrocketing in Russia, these cards were valued at 200K rubles (~$1931) each, making the catch worth about $38,620.

The men actually had no problem stealing the card, the robbery went off without incident. The criminals were eventually caught when they tried to turn over the cards at a local pawn shop and the owner contacted authorities. The criminals were eventually arrested and the card was returned to its rightful owners. With Russia being cut off from Western technology, we can expect more reports like this.
