Andrew Koji – Storm Shadow in the 2021 Snake Eyes film – is campaigning for the role of Jin Sakai in Sony’s Ghost of Tsushima film.
Sony and PlayStation Productions announced the filming of Ghost of Tsushima in March 2021. John Wick director Chad Stahelski will lead the venture, with Only and Still writer Takashi Doscher on board to write the script.
Other details about the production remain a mystery to the public. Most notably, there has been nothing in the form of casting announcements on the air so far.
Many are hoping that Daisuke Tsuji, the actor responsible for portraying Jin Sakai in performance recording, will get the chance to reprise his live-action role.
But another actor has also put his name on the list of interested parties.
Snake Eyes Actor Wants to Star in Ghost of Tsushima Movie
Andrew Koji, who played Tommy/Storm Shadow in Snake Eyes, has expressed interest in Sony’s Ghost of Tsushima film adaptation.
The Bullet Train and Warriors star told Entertainment Weekly, “I’m going after Ghost of Tsushima — that’s what I’m going to do.”
Besides thinking he would be a “really good Jin Sakai”, Koji said he’s played the game twice. The actor continued,
“I thought about it because [the adaptation has] on the horizon, the whole team is talking about it. It should stand on its own because the game is so good. Let that stand on its own, and the movie should be something else. That’s the problem with those video game movies.”
The Ghost of Tsushima movie is one of PlayStation Production’s many multimedia endeavors. Earlier this year, Sony Pictures released the Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland, which just landed on Netflix.
HBO’s Last of Us TV series starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey is expected to air in 2023. PlayStation Productions is also teaming up with Peacock to produce a Twisted Metal TV show, starring Anthony Mackie and Will Arnett.
