TFT patch 12.17b notes: Aphelios & Xayah nerfs, CC changes

TFT patch 12.17b is coming to help fix the meta after the release of Set 7.5. Aphelios and Xayah have landed too strong in Uncharted Realms, and Riot also cuts some of the audience control in the update: here are the full patch notes.

Uncharted Realms has finally launched in Teamfight Tactics and players are already adapting to the new TFT Set 7.5 meta. For most, that meant a lot of Darkflight Cannoneers games with Aphelios, as well as the glorious return of Guild Xayah.

Those two meta-compositions are on the chopping block in Riot’s first batch of changes since the Mid-Set in TFT patch 12.17b. Other meta-comps are also in sight – Olaf and Whispers, to name just two—as well as the amount of crowd control available to players in certain compositions.

They’re all nerfs in TFT patch 12.17b, so see which compositions will hurt the most after the updates below with the full patch notes.

When is TFT Patch 12.17b?

TFT patch 12.17b goes live Tuesday September 13, 2022. There will be no global rollout—all players and servers will receive the same changes at once. There will also be no downtime for the hotfix.

What will change in TFT patch 12.17b?

Aphelios, Xayah head nerfs

The first week of Uncharted Realms was dominated by two compositions: Darkflight Cannoneers and Guild Xayah. So it’s no surprise that the two carriers of both compositions, Aphelios and Xayah, are being grained in TFT patch 12.17b.

Aphelios base stats take a big hit with both AD and attack speed nerfs. This is on top of the health nerfs for Darkflight, making it worse when splashed with two and four units, as well as Cannoneer on all levels.

Xayah faces a smaller nerf for herself—just an AD reduction—but other units in her comp, like Jayce and Shyvana, are also facing some stun duration nerf changes.

Olaf, Pantheon also voted back

Outside of the two meta-compositions, Olaf and Pantheon (Whispers) also performed exceptionally well. They are also the subject of nerfs as the TFT patch 12.17 meta settles.

Olaf has his initial start mana cut and he will get less AD from his passive dying after each battle. Pantheon will now be properly mana-locked during his ability, and that ability now deals less damage to all ranks.

For all the Lagoon, Astral or other AP players out there: none of those compositions are nerfed in TFT patch 12.17b.
