A Pokemon fan took it upon themselves to start a bracket online to determine the best starter of each generation released.
If there’s one constant in the Pokemon community, it’s that fans can’t get enough of each generation’s Starter Pokemon.
Because trainers have to pick one starter over another and it’s the first Pokemon they get on their journey, many fans grow strongly attached to their starter.
Now, one fan has taken it upon themselves to start a massive bracket in which several Starters compete against each other, with only one Pokemon being crowned champion.
Trainer launches massive Pokemon Starter poll
The poll started on Twitter thanks to user mattibee_artswho placed the poll on September 10, 2022.
Their first bracket seemed to pit Starters of similar designs against each other, with Froakie taking on Bulbasaur, Treecko against Sobble, and Chimchar against Grookey.
Plus, the first bracket gave farewell rounds to two overwhelmingly popular picks featuring Eevee and Pikachu.
Charmander also suffered a “popularity handicap”, instead going up against a popular anime character. Of course, Charmander was able to hold on and continue into the fan’s bracket.
After just one day, the first batch racked up over 34,000 likes and 3,400 retweets, with vans voting for their favorites using Twitter’s poll feature.
The first round ended with some pretty surprising surprises, such as Bulbasaur taking the win over Froakie and Fennekin beating Scorbunny.
With Round 2 underway, even tougher matchups are on the way with two of the series’ most popular mascots, Pikachu and Charmander facing each other.
In addition, the final two Generation 1 starters, Bulbasaur and Squirtle, will compete against each other, meaning only two Generation 1 starters will make it to the semifinals.
With two rounds to go, maybe fast trainers can join in the fun, weigh in and help their favorite Starter Pokemon take the crown.
