At first glance, weapon tuning seems extremely complicated, but CoD YouTuber WhosImmortal revealed how to properly use tuning.

Modern Warfare 2 revamped Gunsmith from CoD. Weapons in CoD Vanguard had 10 attachments, making it an absolute nightmare to mix and match until you finally struck a balance. MW2 simplified weapon editing by reducing it to five attachments, but added an extra layer of nuance with weapon tuning.

Infinity Ward temporarily disabled weapon tuning just a few days after the launch of MW2 and reintroduced it about a week later. Lack of cover and a temporary removal made weapon tuning an afterthought in the minds of some community members, but players are starting to see the feature’s untapped potential.

Weapon tuning allows players to customize weapon attachments and change their attributes. When done correctly, the new system is a game changer for Warzone 2 loadouts, and WhosImmortal gave a full rundown.

To unlock weapon tuning, you must reach the maximum level of the weapon. From there, you’ll see a Tune button above equipped attachments, where you’ll find a radar chart and two adjustable sliders.

For example, the image above shows a slider that can be adjusted to improve recoil stabilization or ADS speed, depending on how you want to use the weapon.

Some content creators have suggested maximizing ADS speed, for instance for attachments in gear videos, but WhosImmortal advised against that in its latest YouTube video.

“Things are not linear when you go up and down and left or right. This means that going all the way up doesn’t mean you get the most recoil. Or going all the way to the right doesn’t mean you get the best range.”

WhosImmortal claimed that “each attachment has a different sweet spot,” and players must use the chart to find the best settings.

The YouTuber explained that you’re actually doing more harm than good when you lower stats in favor of others. For example, if you are increasing the accuracy of an attachment, move the slider until the radar graph moves in for other categories.
