Warzone devs tease highly anticipated changes to Peak POI in Season 3 update

Peak has been a divisive POI in Warzone since the jump to Caldera, although the mountain could finally change in the near future, as Raven Software’s Creative Director has teased an upcoming change in Season 3.

With Warzone Pacific Season 2 drawing to a close, attention is quickly shifting to the next major update. Season 3 is around the corner and while no official details have been confirmed, developers have already started teasing what to expect.

Four months since the move from Verdansk to Caldera and much of the map of the Pacific has remained intact. while some have got tired of this layout, others have composed complicated theories why most POIs have remained unchanged.

However, big changes could finally be happening in the coming weeks, as Senior Creative Director Ted Timmins just teased that Peak may be in focus for another revamp in the Season 3 Season Patch.

Caldera in Warzone

Caldera has only undergone a handful of POI changes since the Pacific era kicked off in December.

Timmins chatted with the Baka Bros for nearly an hour on April 5 and today covered a wide variety of topics about the state of Warzone. Many of these conversations returned to Season 3’s content drop.

As far as map changes go, Peak seems to be stuck for some kind of update. While details were kept secret, Raven is supposedly planning “really cool stuff” for the POI in particular.

“Honestly, I really like Peak,” Timmins said to get the discussion going. “I say this as a player, the reason I really like it is… I can’t think of any other experience so far in Warzone, where there’s such a place that if you land there and take it, you can go anywhere skydiving on the map.”

Though even with this praise he admits that Peak isn’t exactly perfect in its current form. As a result, the team has been exploring new ways to mix things up on the mountain in Season 3 and beyond.

“You could argue, is Peak the problem, or is easy access to Peak the problem?” Timmins continued. “Those are the questions we are currently asking ourselves internally. How do we make sure that Caldera’s gameplay fits the Caldera map?

“I think in season 3 you’ll see the first real breakthroughs in that kind of discussion.”

Could this mean a complete overhaul of the POI? Will fan theories come true and watch a volcano erupt on Caldera to drastically revise Peak? It’s a gamble for now. While one thing we can infer from these comments is that Peak will remain in Caldera to some extent.

Warzone Peak

Peak has long been a controversial drop spot due to its elevation above the rest of Caldera.

We’ll have to wait and see what exactly the developers have planned for not just Peak, but Caldera as a whole in the Warzone Season 3 update.

Just weeks after a major overhaul of Rebirth Island, the larger BR map could now follow. Rest assured, we’ll keep you updated with the latest details as they come out.
