YouTuber JerryRigEverything has uploaded a new video of him testing the Apple Watch Ultra’s sapphire crystal display.
The YouTube channel measured the hardness and durability of sapphire glass in the Apple Watch Ultra, along with the Garmin Fenix 7 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 in a test. The aim was to see which sapphire was the most durable and whether the brands lived up to their promise.
During the test, it was discovered that the Apple Watch Ultra has a true sapphire screen, although the screen started to show minor wear on a Mohs scale of 6 and 7, then showed real damage at 8.
By comparison, the Galaxy Watch 5 showed abrasions on 6 and 7, though it was less visible than the Ultra’s screen. The Garmin Fenix received the most praise, showing barely noticeable scratches or abrasions on the Mohs scale of 6 and 7.
The full video, which is about 12 minutes long, can be viewed on JerryRigEverything’s official YouTube channel.
